Helping Your Child Adjust to the Idea of Boarding School
The Signs of Drug and Alcohol Abuse in Teenagers
SunHawk Academy's adolescent residential treatment program and boarding school combines an intense clinical intervention with an accredited academic program. SunHawk treats teenagers 13-17 with emotional or behavioral issues coupled with substance abuse problems. SunHawk Academy offers longer-term care in a comprehensive program that combines academics with therapy, and not only treats the student, but also offered family involvement and parental support.
As part of SunHawk's structure program, students progress through levels as they achieve specific academic and behavioral goals. Personal growth of students is encouraged through extensive therapeutic activities, which are under the direction of qualified clinical staff.
SunHawk uses a cognitive approach utilizing counseling, role modeling, and the environment. Students are presented with traditional values of honesty, respect, and accountability; in order to instill a positive, responsible attitude and prepare them to live successfully within their family and society. The "Life Skills Training" component of the program gives each child extensive exposure to real life experiences that are necessary to succeed in today's society.
