J.D. Power surveyed teenagers and people in their early 20s, and found that young people turn to the Internet to meet their social needs, and expressed little desire to socialize physically. The study also found that young people have negative opinions of the automobile industry, including concerns about pollution and the government bailout of General Motors.
"Generation Y could have the greatest spending power of any generation," said Chance Parker, vice president of J.D. Power. "It will be essential for automakers to earn the trust and loyalty of these consumers who are particularly critical of brands and products."
