Koegel and LaZebnik have written Growing up on the Spectrum -- A Guide to Life, Love and Learning for Teens and Young Adults with Autism and Asperger's specifically for parents who have kids in this age group &The "spectrum" refers to the behavioral characteristics associated with autism, and the degrees to which they exist in certain kids. Growing up on the Spectrum guides parents through their children's teen years, and the transition into college, which can be stressful for both the child and the parents.
LaZebnik's son Andrew, a high school student, provides insight that most books on the subject of autism never seem to include -- the point of view from the child living on the spectrum. [Source: Orange County Register]
