- Children ages two to five years old spend an average of three hours and 47 minutes a day watching television -- an increase from three hours and 40 minutes a day in a previous Nielsen study done during 2007.
- Older children (ages six to 11) watched three hours and 20 minutes a day, up from three hours and 17 minutes a day in 2007.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under two years old do not watch any television at all, and that children older than two should limit TV to less than two hours a day.
