News, Advice, and Tips for Parenting Teenagers

Is there any information out here about the manga/anime stuff some kids are into? I recently found a library book on my stepdaughters floor.. and it was almost pornographic.. it was in 'comic book' style, but none the less, it had at least 7 murder-suicides, 5 rapes, child rape-murder, torture, excutions and other content too disturbing to describe.. I have since looked into this stuff and have found that it is geared to younger kids as in the cartoons like pokemon and naruto.. (which she was very into)but these stories graduate with/as a child matures so does the content and story lines... there is a whole online community (fanfiction.net, adultfanfiction.net)involved in this stuff and it all ends up in the same place.. pornography, with the majority being.. violent homosexuality and a huge degree of incest and pedophilia, not to mention other degrading content.. these characters that kids grow up watching and reading about grow up in this context.. I am worried.. we have an apointment to talk with a physcologist about how to address this as we (her dad and I) are both at a loss with how to deal with it. Are there other parents out there dealing with this?? I would like to learn more and talk about this subject..
