Researchers surveyed 3,284 people ages 13 to 17 years old and found that the election of Barack Obama had a positive effect on youth:
- Fifty-nine percent told interviewers that his election increased their confidence in achieving their own goals.
- More than 70 percent of survey respondents said that they intend to vote in the next election.
- The survey also found that President Obama was more popular among teenagers than among the general voting population.
