Girls who regularly watched racy shows were twice as likely to become pregnant during the course of the three-year study as those who watched few such programs. Almost two out of three girls who watched a lot of sexual content got pregnant, and one third of the boys interviewed said they had gotten a girl pregnant. The rate of pregnancy was consistent regardless of age - 12-year-olds were as likely to get pregnant as 17-year-olds were. The researchers said that the study emphasizes the importance of a continued dialogue between parents and children about sex - a conversation that should begin before the children enter their teen years.
