Well, think of it this way; if your child is doing drugs in the first place, it probably means he/she is escaping the anxiety in one's life. Of which, is most commonly caused by bad parenting. Boundaries should be set, yes, but to set even harder rules in stone is to approach the problem in the wrong way. Try focusing on what makes them take drugs; maybe it's just a little experimentation, or maybe it's a cry for help so that something can relieve the pain created at home. Strict parenting most always raises more problems than it solves. Get in touch with how they feel; emotions are the most potent reasons for making decisions. And don't always assume that if the child is taking drugs, something is wrong with them! It might be out of some retaliation for something the parent did in the first place; like being TOO STRICT!!
